Flameclaw charged through the woods. The rain thundered on his fur. He heard the pounding of dogs behind him. (Flameclaw had been chased by a CloudClan patrol, and ended up cornered in a cave. In the cave lived a pack of dogs. The dogs barking scared off the CloudClan patrol, and Flameclaw couldn't get away in time so they found him, and chased him.) As Flameclaw bolted left and right, he crossed straight through CloudClan territory, not even noticing. The dogs were right on his heels, one false move and Flameclaw would become fresh kill. As they approached MossClan territory, Flameclaws limbs started to ache. He wouldn't give up though. He had a mate and kits to love and take care of. Flameclaw pressed on and ran as fast and hard as he could. He could feel the splashes of dog drool flinging on him. All of a sudden, he sensed something wrong. The drool was getting more and more liquidy, not thick and slobbery like usuall. Then, he knew what it was. But it was to late. The ground stopped before him and he splashed into a gurgling pool of dark water. It churned and bubbled trying to take him under. "StarClan help me!" he pleaded breathlessly. The dogs toppled over him trying to grasp his legs. Suddenly, Flameclaw felt strange. It was as if all the power of StarClan was with him. He vigorously paddled through the merky water. He grasped a sturdy looking branch with his teeth. Using the last of his energy, he pulled himself out of the water. Gasping for air, he clapsed on the wet dirt. "Sparrowsong..." he whispered. His eyes slowly shut, never to open again...
